Darcie is one spelling of Darcy, which began as a surname. The surname is usually traced to the Norman barony of Arcy in northern France, and it came to England and Ireland with Norman families. In Ireland Darcy was also used as an English form of the Gaelic surname Ó Dorchaidhe, so the name has roots on both sides.
As a first name it is modern, and the “-ie” ending gives it a lighter look. The CSO counts Darcy and Darcey as separate names.
Darcie first appears in the CSO records in 2004. It peaked in 2015, with 43 babies, when it reached number 139. In 2025, 27 girls were named Darcie. It does a little better in Northern Ireland, where it reached number 70 in 2024.
