The story of Emmie
Emmie is a pet form of Emily and Emma, made with the friendly -ie ending. Emmy and Emme are other spellings of the same thing. Like Millie, Evie and Ellie, it is now often given as a full name rather than a nickname.
Emmie first reached the CSO list in 2009. It has been rising since, and 2025 was its best year so far, with 32 girls and a place at number 141. The CSO counts Emmy as a separate name. It is about as popular in Northern Ireland, where it reached number 115 in 2023.
