★ What does Eve mean?
Traditionally linked with "life"
Hebrew Chavah, through Greek and Latin Eva.

EEV
The story of Eve
Eve comes from the Hebrew Chavah, which reached English through Greek and the Latin Eva. In the Book of Genesis Eve is the first woman, and the story ties her name to the Hebrew word for life, calling her the mother of all the living.
The Irish form is Éabha. In older records the unrelated Irish name Aoife was often written as Eva in English, as with Aoife MacMurrough, the Leinster princess who married Strongbow.
Eve was rare in Ireland in the 1960s and 1970s. It grew quickly from the late 1990s and peaked in 2011, when 164 girls were named Eve and it reached number 45. Northern Ireland took to it a little sooner, with its best place there 36th in 2006.
